Village walk

One of the joys of living in a small community is the involvement in local affairs. Last year the village club house was damaged in the fires. The local authority provided the building materials and the village does the work. There are other costs, money that the village has to raise. So one of the fund raising events is a walk. I helped to clear a 9 km route that ran around the village. On Sunday 19th May around 80 of us made the walk and then enjoyed a meal together.

I even made the local news.

Yoga retreat Portugal

“Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence”
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

As an integral part of your stay at the Quinta da Figueirhina-holistic yoga centre , you have the opportunity to take part in yoga sessions under the guidance of Tony Speirs, who holds a teaching diploma from the British Wheel of Yoga, and has attended the intensive ashtanga teacher training with David Swenson, has studied in India at the Pattabhi Jois shala in Mysore and has attended many workshops in the UK.

All of which Tony Speirs uses in his unique way of teaching.

An important aspect is that Tony Speirs never has more then 4 students at any one time making the teaching at Yoga Retreat Portugal very individual and tailored to the specific needs of each student.

Eating at the Yoga Retreat

Nutrition is the understanding of the body’s requirements and the sources that provide what is needed.

At Quinta da Figueirhina we are working towards being largely self-sufficient for organic vegetables, fruits, beans and salad.
In the meantime, we source fresh supplies from the plentiful, local produce which flourish in the temperate climate enjoyed year round.
We have our own water mine for fresh water and solar system for energy.
